Editorial standards
These standards apply to every guide on Howlane and its topic sites.
Sources
- We rely on primary sources: laws and regulations, government and public agency guidance, standards bodies, official documentation from the maker of a product, official statistics and peer-reviewed research.
- Every guide ends with a list of the sources it uses, linked so you can check them yourself.
- When sources disagree or a rule differs by country, the guide says so.
Numbers and examples
- Worked examples are calculated before publishing and checked for consistency within the guide.
- The assumptions (rates, periods, quantities) are written next to the result.
What we do not do
- We do not describe experiences we did not have, invent quotes or present made-up figures as facts.
- We do not recommend specific financial products or investments, and we do not accept payment for coverage.
- Money, health and pet guides include a notice that they are general information, not professional advice.
Writing tools
We use writing tools, including AI assistance, for drafting and editing. Each guide is checked against its listed sources before it is published.
